The University of Chicago’s Crime Lab, in partnership with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Get IN Chicago, and the Pritzker Pucker Family Foundation, have awarded the David Lynch Foundation $300,000 to help reduce youth violence in Chicago’s most underserved communities. Through these funds, the Foundation will be able to teach the Transcendental Meditation technique to 250 youth in high crime areas over the next year. Other award winners of the Crime Lab's Chicago Design Competition include Children’s Home + Aid, a leading child and family service agency in Illinois, and Sweet Water Foundation, a Chicago-based community organization for urban agriculture education and training.
