School or School District GrantsThe David Lynch Foundation provides funding for schools that offer children in grades 6 through 12 the opportunity to learn the Transcendental Meditation™ program as part of a whole school, twice-daily, morning and afternoon, Quiet Time session. The David Lynch Foundation will bear some or all TM program instruction costs, and the cost of the follow-up program, which includes faculty and staff training in the proper supervision of the TM/Quiet Time sessions. Periodically throughout the year the David Lynch Foundation holds grant competitions. At this time schools that meet the eligibility requirements may apply for funding. The David Lynch Foundation may also provide support and/or partner with researchers to study and verify the effects of the TM/Quiet Time program for students in the areas of:
Research may also be applied to study overall school improvement in staff, faculty and administration stress levels; improved health and well being; and other factors deemed worthy of improvement. Preference will be given to those applicants with a plan in place to evaluate the TM/Quiet Time program. Research information will come from a planning session with Dr. Sanford Nidich, Research Consultant for David Lynch Foundation. Non-Schools GrantsThe David Lynch Foundation requires all organizations and institutions seeking grants to complete a grant application. Grant cycles occur throughout the year contingent upon availability of funds. Applicants will receive an invitation to apply for funding as eligibility criteria is met and funds become available. Grantee organizations are selected on the basis of defined criteria: strong administrative leadership support for the program, and compatible missions and goals. Examples of non-school programs include: homeless adults, veterans with post- traumatic stress disorder, Native American reservations, prison inmates and staff members, Boys and Girls Clubs. The foundation does not require but encourages funding contributions from within the grantee organization. Preference will be given to those applicants with a research plan to evaluate the benefits of the TM program.
