Transcendental Meditation and consciousness expansion by david

You’ve mentioned the benefit of Transcendental Meditation as being like a sort of consciousness expansion. My question is: Do you think there’s any other way to induce that consciousness expansion, like illicit substances or art, or any other suggestions you might have?

No. The thing is, there’s experience, there’s information, there’s intellectual knowledge. But consciousness isn’t an intellectual knowledge. There is a way to grow knowledge and experience, knowledge and experience—more experience, then knowledge of that experience; then more experience, more knowledge and more understanding. The thing that expands consciousness is experiencing pure consciousness. And that’s a trick of the world. And throughout, they say, the long corridor of time, this is the way to enliven it and to reach that full potential. Why it’s that way, I don’t know. But then you catch hold of that, and you say, “Oh, I want to try that. I want to see what that experience is like. I want to grow in that.” Once you have the experience, you would love to grow in that and to realize unbounded, infinite consciousness. But you have to experience it to unfold it. And to experience it, you’ve got to take your awareness to the deepest level: pure consciousness, the Unified Field, the Absolute.
