| Why did you choose this type of meditation? by david | |
My question is about the nature of Transcendental Meditation. I’ve studied many meditation techniques. I’m curious about the one you employ.
This Transcendental Meditation is what I employ. And you’re given a mantra, which is a specific sound-vibration-thought, and the mantra is the vehicle. The mantra turns the mind within. And what makes it so easy is: once the correct angle is given, the mind wants to go to fields of greater happiness. The deeper through the mind, the deeper through the intellect, the more happiness—like a magnet pulling you to the field of greatest happiness: the Absolute, Being, pure consciousness. Dive into that, and away you go. The experiencing of that does everything.
And the analogy is: you water the root. Get to the very foundation, the most fundamental level: pure consciousness. Enliven that. And it’s called a holistic experience because it engages the entire brain. So it’s total brain functioning. And that becomes more and more and more a permanent state the more you experience that consciousness, the more that consciousness grows. So it doesn’t happen overnight, but it happens each day more and more and more.
